PARK OPERATIONS AND FORESTRY

Crestwood became a Tree City USA in 1995. As of 2007, we have achieved this designation, for 13 consecutive years. An annual Arbor Day celebration is held in April, with participation from Long Elementary School. The City maintains a park and street tree inventory to keep track of our trees. Working with The Missouri Department Of Conservation, we have obtained grants for forestry projects and purchased seedlings that are planted in the parks. Periodically, corrective pruning is done to City trees to maintain their health and provide clearance for street and sidewalk traffic.

Additionally, Park Operations maintains six City parks, the Sappington House Complex, Grant’s Trail, two cemeteries, the U-Turn ramp, roadsides, islands, and other City properties. When available, grants are obtained to upgrade these areas.
