As part of our ISO 4 rating, the Department must, on an annual
basis, test hydrants, engine company pumping capacity and all
fire hose.
All Department fire hose is pressure tested to specifications
during September. Each of the 233 sections of various size hose
is tested and checked for physical damage to the cover, couplings
and coupling gaskets. Any defects are repaired in house, if
possible, or sent out for repair.
The Department engine companies are tested annually for pumping
capacity. This requires that the company draft water from a
static water source. The company must meet the following pumping
capacity criteria to pass, 100% at 150 p.s.i., 70% at 200 p.s.i.,
and 50% at 250 p.s.i.
