Crestwood is a post-World War II suburb that was essentially built out between the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. A major demographic turnover is predicted to occur within the next decade. A change in home ownership is expected as original owners seek to downsize their living arrangements as they enter the twilight of their lives. This trend started in the late 1990’s and will eventually peak towards the end of the decade. With this turnover, the City will see a mini-population boom as younger families with children replace empty nesters.
Crestwood Median Household Income is $3,653 over that of St. Louis County as a whole. 91.2% of Crestwood’s housing units are owner occupied, with some 44% of the total of 5,214 units having no mortgage.
