Welcome to the City of Crestwood’s business homepage!  The City of Crestwood, Missouri, is located within the desirable southwestern portion of St. Louis County, just east of the interchange of Interstates I-44 and I-270. The City’s central location provides easy access to the Gateway Arch, Lambert International Airport and downtown St. Louis in less than thirty minutes. The City of Crestwood actively encourages economic development and has recently approved developments utilizing tools such as TIF, CID and TDD.

Crestwood is a community with approximately 12,000 residents and a median household income of $54,000.  We are located within the award winning Lindbergh School district.  At $0.5010 per $100 assessed valuation, Crestwood maintains one of the lowest commercial property tax rates in the St. Louis area, and ranks among the best in municipal services in St. Louis County.

With nearly 2,000,000 square feet of retail space, Crestwood continues to be a major hub of retail activity in southwest St. Louis County.  The City’s business district runs for nearly 2.2 miles along Watson Road (MO Route 366). Crestwood Court, recently purchased by Centrum Properties, is a 49-acre site with 1.1 million square footage of retail space that is currently in the design phase of redevelopment.



Discover Crestwood is an economic development program in which the City works with local businesses and shoppers to improve sales and revitalize the local business community.  Discover Crestwood is comprised of two aspects: the business directory and discount program. Businesses may participate in either or both options.

The Discover Crestwood Business Directory is a listing which showcases a variety of participating local businesses, some of which choose to offer a discount to local shoppers. Crestwood residents can show their “SavingsPass” to participating businesses to receive a discount. This savings pass can be obtained from the newsletter, website or City Hall. Look for the Discover Crestwood decal in participating store windows to receive your discount. Watson Road/Route 66 is the commercial corridor within the City of Crestwood and currently contains retailers such as Kohl’s(websitemap), Schnucks Supermarket (websitemap),Best Buy(websitemap), Gordmans (websitemap), Shop ‘n Save, Aldi and Officemax. Crestwood is also home to other national retailers such as Sam’s Club (websitemap) and numerous smaller commercial establishments.


Over the last decade, the City of Crestwood has seen the addition of over 400,000 square feet of new retail space. In November of 2003 the City welcomed an 88,000 square foot Kohl’s Department Store in the heart of the City’s central business district, at the intersection of Watson and Sappington Roads.


Gordmans, Inc., an Omaha-based apparel and home fashions retailer, celebrated the grand opening weekend of its Crestwood store in October of 2004.



In spring of 2005, the City welcomed an Aldi (websitemap) store at 9274 Watson Road. Aldi occupies approximately 16,000 square feet on the west side of the former Circuit City building.



Starbucks Coffee opened its doors in October of 2007, and is located within Sappington Square, a 5.7-acre site at the southeast corner of Old Sappington Road and Watson Road.



Established in December of 2001, Sam’s Wholesale Club is located just off I-44 at 10248 Big Bend Boulevard, which is in the Big Bend Crossing Transportation Development District.  This TDD was created in June of 2001 to help pay for certain transportation related public infrastructure costs.

HPIM2137WatsonPlaza, also known as Glenwood-WatsonPlaza, houses a TIF and TDD and is located off of Watson Road, just west of Sappington Road. A freestanding Walgreens opened in November of 2005 and a 50,000 square foot Shop ‘n Save opened in June of 2006.


Much of the successful development and redevelopment projects Crestwood has enjoyed during the past several years can be attributed to the City’s proactive approach to maintaining and improving the quality of its commercial base. The City of Crestwood hopes to build upon past successes by continuing our efforts to strengthen the City’s economic base.  Crestwood also provides high-quality housing options for Crestwood’s existing residents, and is always looking for new ways to attract families and individuals to our community.
