| Interested in adopting a dog or cat?
As you begin your search, don't forget to stop by the
shelter in Whitecliff Park. A surprising 25 - 35 percent
of the animals picked up by Animal Control each year
are strays, so there are usually animals on hand for
you to see.
Animals are held at the shelter for 10 days. If unclaimed,
they are vaccinated, checked and treated for parasites
and viruses, and spayed or neutered, if necessary. Adopters
are expected to reimburse Friends of Animals for these
costs.
Adopters must sign an adoption contract releasing the
City of Crestwood from any post-adoption responsibility.
Crestwood does not knowingly adopt any animals with
aggressive tendencies.

This kitten was actually dumped off at the Animal Control gate just hours before a big snow storm and, of course, the frightened animal ran off into 89-acre Whitecliff Park! An APB to our volunteer forces netted three devoted volunteers who searched the area . . . and amazingly, found her! Adoption pending.

Nate is enjoying star status after a remarkable rescue effort. How this stray suffered--appearing out of nowhere, he was observed countless times, staying in a particular neighborhood. Who else but Crestwood Animal Control could boast four kittens not yet three weeks old? (It really does not ever end for us!) All are males. Not available for adoption until Christmas or later. Forget your preconceived notions about Pit Bulls-- this super-friendly spayed female is one great dog. Must be some retriever in her mix--retrieves a ball tirelessly. High energy, but altogether loveable. For no reason that we can figure, the photo makes her look brown, but in fact, she is true blue. (Come and see for yourself!) Great dog! Loves our shelter cats. Gorgeous cat! The photo doesn't begin to do her justice--you have to see this one in person. Newly-arrived. Reported as a stray for several weeks in Grant Farm Trails area. Picked up by the police when he refused to leave a front porch at Forestview Apartments, Sid was never claimed. Very friendly to people but not fond of other cats. A spectacular 12+ pounds, even our veterinarian who sees zillions of cats on a daily basis thought he was absolutely wonderful! Already neutered and DECLAWED.

Montgomery was live-trapped when he was reported to be a nuisance with a fondness for the Koi in a backyard pond. No one ever claimed him. A bit shy on arrival, he has settled in nicely, is very sweet and likes to lick our fingers! Wellness-checked, blood-tested, distemper vaccinated and neutered. Altho our vet thinks he is over one year, we think he is well-under. A very high energy cat who loves his toys.
